Description

&& day for day, year for year
I'm waiting to sense
you once again
where were you
when I longed for you
where were you
when my inner being died

This image is entered in *Suanin's contest, Express, don't Repress.

There are a few obvious emotions portrayed, though i would say that the main are Grief & Remorse.

Phew! This one took me a while, but I am rather pleased with the outcome. I have never done a manip with a human in it, nor have I ever tried to make a ghost, so I think I managed okay. I'm sure there are things that could have been done better, but I'm exhausted!

I scanned through my mass amounts of stock in hopes that something would stick out, and the horse did. So from there my options were narrowed quite a bit, and when I came across the girl, I knew just what to do... sorta...

With a great deal of input from =inPrint I hammered out a story behind the image, and slowly it came together for me. Simple, yet just the way I wanted it.

And now, for my story (though it is brief!). Don't judge me on my crappy story-telling skills xD

****

The horse pictured was given to the girl as a gift when she was only a child. They grew up together on a lavish farm, the outskirts of which can be seen in the background. The pond pictured was a favorite place of theirs, for it allowed the girl to get away from the demands of farm life, and the horse merely enjoyed the freedom she often gave him.

The two were the best of friends, they competed together and won prizes, and the girl was even named a rodeo princess. The nearby town was small, and so when the fourth of July rolled around and preparations were being made for the annual parade, the girl and her horse were to ride alongside the rodeo queen and other two princesses. The woman were dressed in different attire than usual, wearing dresses rather than the typical jeans and button-down shirts.

It was this highly anticipated day that tragedy struck.

The girl and her horse were nearly three quarters of the way through their ride, approaching the last street down which the parade would make its way. There was a small boy in the crowd with a toy snake, and in the typical manner of children he thought it would be fun to toss said toy in the direction of the approaching horses. The girls horse spooked, reared, and due to the slippery material of her dress, upseated her. The next moments were filled with mayhem, and when the dust settled it became clear that the young girl would never ride again.

The horse was filled with grief over the accident, blaming himself for the untimely events. There was nothing more than a shell of a horse left, no other hand at the farm dared to bother him with a ride. More often than not he was simply left to roam, and were he to ever vanish from the sprawling paddocks there was only one other place that he would go....

And so now here they are, soulmates separated by fate; she forever doomed to wander the world inbetween, aching to lend peace to her beloved companion; and he, shouldering blame that weighs down his shoulders, and drags him ever lower.

I see smoke, patches of fog
darkness clothes me well
where were you all the years
where were your signs
the search for you
is the loss of
you &&
